Diwali Lakshmi Puja

Diwali Lakshmi Puja is the biggest wealth-ritual of the Hindu calendar, performed on the Amavasya night of Kartik month. The Puja begins after sunset in Pradosh Kaal, worshipping Ganesha first (obstacle removal), then Lakshmi (wealth), then Kubera (treasurer of the gods), Saraswati (wisdom-guided wealth). Business owners perform Chopda Pujan — sanctifying new ledgers and account books to begin the financial new year. Lakshmi is believed to visit every clean, well-lit home on this night.

Deep-clean home during the day; draw rangoli at entrance
Light diyas in every room, tulsi vrindavan, and at entrance from sunset
Set up chowki with red cloth; Lakshmi (centre), Ganesha (left), Kubera (right)
Kalash with mango leaves + coconut represents the goddess
Ganesha puja first, then Lakshmi with Shodashopachara
Recite Lakshmi Ashtakam and Sri Suktam
Aarti with "Om Jai Lakshmi Mata"; Chopda Pujan for business
