Hartalika Teej

Hartalika Teej is a rigorous 24-hour nirjala fast dedicated to Shiva-Parvati. Legend: Parvati's friend "abducted" (haran) her to prevent her forced marriage to Vishnu; she then performed intense tapas that finally won Shiva as her husband.
